Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder that affects how children interact with others, communicate, learn, and behave. Although autism can be diagnosed at any age, but is typically diagnosed in childhood. The most common signs and symptoms are:

2. Restricted interests and repetitive behaviors

These symptoms affect their ability to function in school, work, and other areas of life.

Autism is known as a “spectrum” disorder because there is wide variation in the type and severity of symptoms. Global estimates show that 1 in 36 children have Autism and the prevalence is four times higher in boys as compared to girls. People of all genders, races, ethnicities, and economic backgrounds can be diagnosed with ASD.
